Personal Statement

I have chosen the Manchester School of Architecture because I am deeply impressed by its exceptional teaching quality and innovative pedagogical approach. The University of Manchester's Department of Architecture boasts a rich history, notable achievements, and a prestigious reputation within the international architectural community. I am eager to learn the latest design concepts and technologies here, engage with outstanding faculty and students from around the globe, and jointly explore the boundless possibilities of architecture. Studying at the Manchester School of Architecture will enable me to integrate my creativity with professional skills, creating aesthetically pleasing and functional architectural works.

Furthermore, I am acutely aware of the significance of the architecture industry for society and the environment. I aspire to positively impact people's lives through my designs, whether by enhancing the comfort of living environments or fostering harmonious community development. I am confident that the Manchester School of Architecture will provide me with the platform and resources to realize this vision.

From a young age, I have harbored a profound fascination with architecture. I spent much more constructing imaginative buildings from drawings, ranging from humble homes to grand castles. Each creation immersed me in a realm of boundless imagination and creative delight. Recently, I came to Xi'an to watch the buildings combined with ancient and modern elements. I began to observe the Bell Tower and Dayan Pagoda buildings around me, whether ancient historical relics or modern skyscrapers, pondering the design principles behind them and how they influenced people's lives.

My favorite architect is undoubtedly Zhang Jinqiu. The sheer ingenuity and creativity displayed in his designs never cease to amaze me. From the sleek, modern aesthetics of Shaanxi History Museum to the innovative use of materials and sustainable practices. It serves as a major repository for historical artifacts and cultural relics related to Shaanxi, a region with a rich historical heritage spanning multiple dynasties in Chinese history. The museum's design, often praised for its integration of traditional Chinese architectural elements with modern design aesthetics, makes it a notable architectural landmark in its own right.

I have observed numerous areas for improvement in urban and country farms, beyond just the arrangement of visitor flows. One profound realization struck me: the air in nature is remarkably refreshing! The lush greenery evokes a sense of spaciousness, making me appreciate the role of urban farms: to help those who have long been confined within concrete jungles rediscover the world. Their strategic locations make these spaces more accessible, conveniently catering to the public’s desire for a natural ecological environment. Moreover, as societal pressures mount, urban farms provide a sanctuary where individuals can temporarily escape the burdens of skyscrapers and savor the present moment.
